Let’s see, the Tampa Bay Rays have two starters on the DL, Evan Longoria and Carl Crawford. I’m really interested to see if they can withstand this. Both the Yankees and Red Sox have had key starters spend extended time away due to injuries. The Rays have been pretty lucky up until now. Only Percival has missed any time that mattered. The Yankees injury woes are well documented, Joba, Jorge, Matsui, Hughes, A-Rod, Kennedy, Bruny, Damon and most important…Wang. I almost put Pavano on the list but come on. He hasn’t been a factor for them in about 4 years. Anyway, the Rays have shown no signs of stopping the run their on. They just keep winning. Now, lets see if they can keep it going.
In college football, USC’s Mark Sanchez dislocated his kneecap. I can’t even begin to tell how queasy that makes me. He will be out for 1 to 4 weeks. Florida’s Percy Harvin has evidently taken a step back in his recovery from heel surgery. Georgia’s Trinton Sturdivant hurt his knee in the first fall scrimmage. The extent isn’t known, but he may be lost for the year. UCLA’s Ben Olson and Clemson’s Reshaad Jackson are out for at least 8 weeks.
The NFL has been relatively unhurt with the exception of Peyton Manning and now Seattle’s Bobby Engram.
